Description
The Poplars is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on the south side of Repton Road in the parish of Newton Solney. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with gable stacks and brick coped gables that have plain kneelers. The building has a dentil eaves cornice and is designed in an L-plan layout.
The east elevation consists of three bays and includes a central ashlar porch, which was taken from 'Cliff House' in the 19th century. This porch has arched panels on the sides, a moulded cornice, and acroteria. The entrance features a 20th-century panelled door and is flanked by three-light casements that sit under wedge brick lintels. Above, there are two similar windows on either side of a blind segment-headed window. To the north, there is a segment-headed window with three lights. There is also a 20th-century single-storey range to the south, which is not of special interest.
