Description
The Golf Club Locker Room at Hallowes Golf Clubhouse is a building that originally served as farm outbuildings, dating from the late 16th century, with later alterations and additions from the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed coal measures sandstone with quoins and features a stone slated roof that is hipped at the east end. The structure is single storey and consists of six bays, which include full height jowel posts from an earlier timber framed building set within the stone wall. These posts support collar and tie beam trusses, with the tie beams being held up by transverse braces that rise from the jowel posts. The two easternmost trusses were modified when the roof was hipped. Additionally, the center bay shows signs on the north wall of a tall double opening, likely intended for access to a central threshing floor.
