Description

This is a range of shop units, originally farm outbuildings, dating from the early 17th century with alterations in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed rubble coal measures sandstone and has stone slates and Welsh slates for roofing. It consists of a single-storey range combined with a two-bay, three-storey range at the east end. The single-storey section has four shop fronts, four doors, and two small windows to the west. The eastern house section exhibits coped gables with moulded kneelers, a shop front, and a doorway on the ground floor. It also has single-glazing bar sash windows beneath plain stone lintels. The single-storey range contains five cruck trusses, supporting a single purlin roof, and retaining some windbraces. A foot of one cruck truss, along with its padstone, is visible on the rear elevation.
