Description
The Green Dragon Inn is a public house located in Dronfield, dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century and alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of roughcast sandstone with brick gable stacks and features a Welsh slated roof. The building has an L-shaped layout, with a later advanced range at the west end.
The main range, facing north, is two storeys high with attics and consists of two bays. It has 4-light chamfered windows beneath dripmoulds on either side of an off-centre doorway, which has a simply moulded surround. The first floor features a 2-light and a 3-light chamfer mullioned window, both also beneath dripmoulds, along with 2-light chamfer mullioned attic windows above these openings. All windows have leaded lights, some of which are early.
The advanced two-bay range includes sash windows with plain surrounds on both the ground floor and the upper floor, as well as one semi-circular headed window and one inserted 19th-century window, both fitted with 20th-century glazing.
