Description
The Red House is a house dating from 1731, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings, featuring advanced quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, brick gable stacks, and a concrete tiled roof. The house is two storeys high, above cellars, and is arranged with four bays. A central doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and a shallow cornice. The doorway has a six-panelled door, with the upper panels glazed. Flanking windows on both the ground and first floors are coupled sash windows with painted heads and cills. Above the doorway, linked to it by pilaster strips, is a panel referencing the Master of the Grammar School and dated 1731. Modern iron railings and a low stone plinth flank the doorway.
