Description

Holly Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1699, with a significant refronting and extension in the 1853. It is constructed of coursed, squared, tooled sandstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is a mix of stone slate and plain tile, with 19th-century stone copings, moulded kneelers to the gable ends, and the original north gable intact. There are three rendered stacks, one at each end of the stone slate roof and one between. The farmhouse is two storeys high and originally had three bays, with the northern bay being added in 1853. The ground floor has three 19th-century, three-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. Above these are three matching two-light windows. A stone plaque inscribed 'WHS 1699' is located between the southern windows, with a later incised oval inscription reading 'READ 1853'. The building is included on the list for group value.
