Description
Nos 22 and 23 Higham are two cottages that have been converted into a house. They date back to the 15th century, with some elements from the 17th century, and have undergone significant alterations and an extension in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with gritstone dressings and features a plain tile roof with a stone ridge. The north gable has stone coping and a moulded kneeler. There is a brick ridge stack, part rendered. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. On the north side, there is a 20th-century two-light mullion window, while the south side features two sets of 20th-century double doors, followed by two 20th-century casement windows. Above these, there are three 20th-century casements set in gabled dormers. At the rear, there is a large 20th-century extension. Inside, the building has two full-height tied cruck trusses, each with a collar.
