Description
The summerhouse, located approximately 40 metres north of Overton Hall, is a garden shelter that likely dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century, incorporating earlier stone columns. It features squared coursed sandstone walls and monolithic sandstone columns, topped with a hipped pantiled roof that has sandstone ridges. The structure has a rectangular plan and is open on two sides, built into the external angle of two garden walls that meet at right angles. The unfluted Doric columns, which do not have a base, consist of two on the long side and one on the short side, all supported by plain sandstone pedestals. The wallplates are carried by plain stone abaci, which are boxed with softwood boarding.
