Description
The chimney at Ravensnest is a Grade II listed structure from the early to mid-19th century. It is built from regularly coursed gritstone and features an intermediate band course. The chimney has a slightly stepped, tapering square shape, topped with an oversailing course and low corner piers that create a crenellated appearance. It stands on a prominent outcrop and has a lintel above the base opening on the downward-facing side. This chimney is a rare survival associated with lead processing, having served as the engine house chimney of the Gregory Mine. It is now recognized as a significant mining monument of the Ashover orefield.
