Description
The boundary wall enclosing gardens to properties on the north side of High Street, located to the west of Item 48, dates from the mid 17th century to the 18th century. It is constructed from coursed coal measures sandstone and varies in height between two and three metres. The wall features both flat and half round copings. In the center, there is a projecting doorway area with a chamfered quoined surround and a massive lintel, topped with oversailing flagstones that serve as a drip. Above this, in line with the wall, is a raised masonry panel with a flat coping. The wall has various shallow raking buttresses along its irregular boundary, several blocked openings, and a second plain doorway with a planked door. This structure is included for its group value only.
