Description

The barn and attached outbuildings at Egstow Hall are a cruck barn and outbuildings dating from the 15th century and 19th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. They are constructed of coursed sandstone rubble, featuring sandstone dressings and quoins, and have slate roofs with stone ridges. The west and north gables have moulded stone copings. The barn is a four-bay single-storey structure, while the attached outbuildings are a lower single-storey five-bay layout, forming an L-plan with the barn to the south.

There are 19th-century steps leading to a stable door on the east gable, and another stable door is located to the east of the north elevation. The west side features a 19th-century window and archway, along with three triangular openings near the eaves. The outbuildings attached to the west end include three 19th-century stable doors and two 19th-century windows, as well as 20th-century garage doors to the north. The southern two bays of the outbuildings are slightly advanced.

Inside the barn, there are three through-purlin stiled open cruck-trusses, and remnants of the original wallplate can be seen on the south side. The eaves have been raised, and beneath the triangular openings, there are three blocked splayed slit windows. A gallery is present on the east side.
