Description

Strathfield House is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century, which was refronted in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a rock-faced finish on the south side, and features gritstone dressings and quoins also on the south. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a stone ridge, with stone coped gables that are moulded on the south elevation. The south side has moulded kneelers, while the north side has plain kneelers. There is a twin brick gable end stack on the western side. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. The 19th-century south facade includes a chamfered central doorcase with a four-centred arched lintel. On either side of the doorcase are recessed and chamfered 2-light mullion windows, with two similar windows located above in gabled dormers. The rear elevation features a central flush quoined doorcase with 2-light flush mullion windows on either side, and a similar window above in the eastern gable.
