Description

Pear Tree Farmhouse is a house dating to 1671, with 18th-century additions and 19th-century alterations, refurbished in 1992. It is constructed of rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings, quoins, plain gables, ridge and gable stone stacks, and a Welsh slate roof. The south-east elevation is of two storeys and three bays, with the north-eastern bay being an addition. The original plan was of an end-lobby entrance. The off-centre doorway has a chamfered quoined surround and lintel. To the south-west are two four-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows with 20th-century casements, each beneath a dripmould. Above are two two-light 20th-century casements, beneath plain stone lintels. In the added bay to the north-east is a ground-floor two-light chamfered mullioned window, with a 20th-century two-light casement above. A plaque reading ‘G B 1671’ is situated between the two first-floor windows at the south-west end.
