Description

ASHOVER SK3463 CHURCH STREET 1264-0/11/36 (East side) 25/10/51 The Old Rectory (Formerly Listed as: The Rectory) II House, formerly the Rectory. A mid C18 remodelling of an earlier house, with mid C19 alterations and additions, and more recent C20 extensions. Coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, plain gables, central off-the-ridge chimney, and a stone slated roof. West elevation of 2 storeys and 7 bays, the two northern bays set back from the main range, with C20 remodelled doorway and linked 3-light window, below two 4 x 4 pane glazing bar sashes. Advanced 5-bay outshut with stair window at half-landing level at north end, having margin glazing. Remaining windows are all 4 x 4 pane glazing bar sashes set into the flush surrounds of former mullioned openings, the ground-floor openings taller than those at first floor level. Doorway to penultimate bay to south end, with architrave surround, enclosed by open porch with Tuscan columns, and cornice with ball finials to angles. Plain planked C20 doorway with square light to upper part. Single-storey C20 extension to south end.
