Description

Columbine is a terraced town house that has been converted into a restaurant and flats. It was built around 1795, with late 19th century additions and renovations in the 20th century. The building is made of dressed millstone grit with ashlar dressings and has Welsh slate roofs.

The exterior features three storeys, an eaves band, a cornice, and a low parapet. There is a second-floor sill band and a two-window front. To the left, there is a pilaster strip with vermiculated rustication, a four-panel door with an overlight, and an off-centre glazing bar sash with a tooled surround. Above this is a canted oriel bay window with glazing bar sashes supported on stone brackets. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay window with glazing bar sashes and tooled surrounds. On the second floor, there are two round-headed two-light casements with fanlights in tooled ashlar surrounds featuring keystones.

The rear elevation also has three storeys and includes a staircase window, along with a single-storey extension. Inside, the layout has been altered and subdivided in the 20th century, with a flying freehold over the first floor of No. 6. The staircase rises from the rear of the hall, and the house includes a circular light well.
