Description

No. 6 Hall Bank is a terraced town house dating from circa 1795, with alterations made in the late 19th century and late 20th century. The exterior is constructed of dressed millstone grit with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof, featuring stone stacks. The house is three storeys high and has an ashlar eaves band, cornice, and low parapet. The three-bay front is characterised by full-height pilaster strips with vermiculated rustication. A 19th-century shopfront is located on the left-hand side, featuring a panelled door with overlight. The right-hand side has a tripartite sash window and a single sash window, both separated by wooden pilasters supporting a wooden fascia board. Above are three 20th-century 2-light casements with mullions. The upper floor has three round-headed 2-light casements with vermiculated surrounds and keystones, plus a continuous projecting sill band. The rear elevation is of coursed rubble with staggered, irregular openings featuring tooled sills and lintels. A single-storey projecting entrance with a flat roof is located on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value with Nos. 2A, 2B, and 2-5 Hall Bank, and No. 7 Hall Bank.
