Description
Marsh Hall and Barn is a farmhouse and barn dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century addition and later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with quoins and features gritstone dressings. It has slate roofs with varying pitches and levels, along with stone gable end and ridge stacks. The structure is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
On the south elevation, the central 17th-century section includes a chamfered quoined doorcase with a pointed arch lintel to the east. To the west, there is a deeply recessed and chamfered 5-light window with 20th-century casements, followed by a 20th-century inserted door and an 18th-century 3-light flush mullion window. Further to the west in the 18th-century section, there are two 19th-century openings, one featuring a plain sash window and the other a plate glass window. In the 17th-century section, a moulded string course runs above the openings. Above this, there are two 5-light deeply recessed and chamfered mullion windows, and further to the west, two 3-light flush mullion windows. To the east, the barn has various irregular openings.
