Description
Cooper's Almshouses, built in 1800, consist of six almshouses constructed in association with the nearby Congregational Chapel by Mr. John Cooper of London, who was previously a brickmaker in Ashbourne. The almshouses are made of red brick and feature a brick eaves cornice and a slate roof. They are single-storey buildings, each with one round-headed window. The windows are early 19th-century casement style, and there are similar arches above the doors. A plaque is located above the center of the group. Cooper's Almshouses are part of a group that includes the Congregational Church and its boundary wall.
