Description
Numbers 15 and 17 on Dig Street are both notable buildings from the 18th century. Number 15 is constructed of red brick, with the roof not visible. It features a dentil eaves cornice and stands three storeys tall, displaying three sash windows with boxed frames and cambered head linings. The upper windows have vertical glazing bars, while the lower windows have late 19th-century glazing. The building has a 19th-century console bracket cornice and pilasters, although these have been renewed. A three-light shop window spans the entire frontage. At the rear, there is a brick wing with a tile roof, which is two storeys high and has two sash windows with boxed frames and glazing bars.
Number 17 serves as a house with a shop and dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is built of brick in Flemish bond and has a single window range. This building also rises to three storeys, with the upper window breaking the eaves level under a gable adorned with wavy bargeboards. The second floor features four-pane sashes, while the first shop front includes a canted oriel with a casement window. The shop front is a 19th-century addition with timber columns that support a deeply moulded cornice. The entrance has a half-glazed and panelled door, and the brick plinth has been renewed. Both buildings are included for their group value.
