Description
This railway bridge, located half a mile south of Arm Lees Farm, was built in 1826. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone with a rock-faced finish, except for the area under the arch and on the keystone. The bridge features a large stiled arch, and at its base, there is an inscribed stone that reads, "The Right Honourable Lady Scarsdale laid this stone November 14 1826." There is also another stone halfway up the bridge, inscribed with "Emma Matilda Wilmot laid this stone May MDCC?11???." Iron ties are positioned on either side of the keystone, and above this, there is a stringcourse with a bridge parapet. The bridge has pilasters at both ends, and on either side, there are coursed rubble limestone embankments. It is listed for its historic interest as part of the Cromford and High Peak Railway.
