Description

Biggin House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions. The east elevation is faced with ashlar and has a plain tile roof, stone coped gables with moulded kneelers, and brick gable end stacks. It is two storeys high, with five bays. A plinth with roll moulding runs along the base. The central doorway has a stepped and moulded surround framed by Tuscan pilasters and an entablature with a metope frieze. A modern glazed door is set within this surround. Two 4-pane glazing bar sashes flank the doorway on each side, set within stepped and moulded surrounds. Five similar windows are above, and the entire facade is framed by giant Tuscan angle pilasters and a metope frieze. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top. The south elevation features an early 19th-century bow window extending through two floors, a mid-19th-century wing to the rear, and a 20th-century brick extension.
