Description
Hurst House, located at 11 Abercrombie Street, dates from around 1840. It is built of ashlar stone and features bands at the sills of the first and second floors, topped with a slate roof. The south side of the building has a prominent pedimented gable and is three storeys high. It includes one window with three light unbarred sashes; the top two floors have round-arched windows, while the ground floor features a stuccoed frame with a moulded cornice supported by brackets. The north side is two storeys tall and has three generally unbarred sash windows. There was a former central entrance that included a stuccoed portico, cornice, and blocking course, but this has been replaced by a window.
