Description
The Gazebo at Somersall Hall is an early 17th-century structure. It is square in shape and constructed from coursed rubble, featuring coped gables on each side. The building has a parapet adorned with ball finials at the corners and at the apex of the roof. The rear part has been rebuilt in brick. There are no windows on the ground floor except for the front, which also has a blocked door. The upper floor is fitted with a three-light mullioned window on each side, complete with a continuous dripmould. This gazebo is considered a fine example of typical Jacobean architecture. However, there is a suggestion that it may have originally been part of the main house, with its current use as a gazebo being a later adaptation, although this remains unproven.
