Description
Tapton Hill Bridge over the Chesterfield Canal, located on Brimington Road, was built around 1777. The Chesterfield Canal was initiated by James Brindley and completed by his brother-in-law Henshall. This red brick bridge features a stone-coped parapet and has a curved design. It includes a low arch with the top course of the arch advanced. There is some patching present, and part of the north side end wall appears to have been modified. Brick pilasters are positioned on either side of the arch.
