Description
Burley House is a farmhouse dated 1828, located on the east side of Derby Road in Duffield. It is constructed of red brick, rendered on all sides except for the north elevation, and features a Welsh slate roof with stone-coped gables that do not have kneelers. The house has brick gable stacks and one brick ridge stack.
The building stands three storeys tall with a four-bay south elevation. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a stone doorcase with pilasters and a flat bracketed hood, leading to a raised and fielded panelled door. To the left of the door is a glazing bar sash window set under a wedge lintel, with two similar windows to the right. The first floor has three matching windows, along with a small single light window above the door. There are three smaller similar windows above these, and a narrower window positioned over the door. A datestone on the west wall commemorates John Tempest, Burley House, 1828.
Inside, there is a dogleg open string staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail.
