Description
Derwent House is a house built in the early 19th century, originally serving as the manager's house for Peckwash Mill. It is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings and features a hipped Welsh slate roof with brick lateral stacks. The house has three storeys and the southwest elevation consists of three symmetrical bays, with first and second floor sill bands. The centre bay is slightly advanced, and there are three steps leading up to a stone doorcase that includes pilasters and a cornice. The entrance has half glazed double doors topped by a radiating fanlight, with stone canted bay windows on either side, each containing glazing bar sashes. The first floor features three glazing bar sashes beneath keyed and channelled wedge stone lintels, while the upper floor has three Yorkshire sashes under plain wedge stone lintels. Inside, the entrance hall boasts a cantilevered stone staircase with stick balusters.
