Description

The Stocking Frame Knitters Workshop, located at the rear of numbers 18 and 20 on Town Street in Holbrook, is an outbuilding that originally served as a stocking workshop. It dates back to the 18th century and was extended upwards in the 19th century, with partial restoration occurring around 1984. The structure is built of coursed squared sandstone and red brick, featuring sandstone dressings. It has a plain tile roof with brick gable stacks and consists of two storeys and two bays. The ground floor is constructed in sandstone and includes two doorcases on the eastern side, along with a later brick lean-to addition to the north. The upper level, made of red brick, has two three-light wide glazing bar casements on the east side and similar fixed windows on the west side. A flight of stone steps leads up to a door on the north gable wall.
