Description
Nos 20, 21, and 22 on Golden Valley Road are a terrace of three cottages, originally built in the early 19th century and restored around 1980. The cottages are constructed of red brick and feature slate roofs, dentilled eaves, and brick stacks at the gables and ridges. They are two storeys high, with each cottage comprising two bays. The south elevation of each cottage has two central plank doors, flanked by two-light windows, with two similar windows located above. All openings have cambered brick heads, and the windows are fitted with 20th-century top-hung casements. The eastern door of the central cottage is adorned with a barge-boarded porch roof. This terrace is part of a group of housing for industrial workers built by the Butterley Company, situated alongside the Cromford Canal.
