Description

PARISH OF MORLEY MORLEY ROAD SK 44 SW 2/90 (East Side) Gateway, attached retaining wall and garden seat at Morley Manor GV II

Gates and gate piers, retaining wall and garden seat, to the south east of Morley Manor. 1900 by G F Bodley. Gritstone ashlar gate piers, cruciform in plan. Moulded cornice, entablature with moulded inverted brackets, surmounted by a second cornice and pyramid finials. Five steps up to east, semi-circular in plan. Wrought iron gates with pilasters and overthrow. Gritstone retaining walls attached on each side. Ashlar garden seat attached approximatley nine yards to the south. Bracketed legs and steeply sloping arms. Listed for group value only.
