Description
The gateway, attached retaining wall, and garden seat at Morley Manor were designed by G F Bodley in 1900. Located to the southeast of Morley Manor, the structure features gritstone ashlar gate piers that are cruciform in plan. It has a moulded cornice and an entablature with moulded inverted brackets, topped with a second cornice and pyramid finials. There are five semi-circular steps leading up to the east. The wrought iron gates are flanked by pilasters and an overthrow. Attached on each side are gritstone retaining walls. Approximately nine yards to the south is an ashlar garden seat with bracketed legs and steeply sloping arms. This structure is listed for its group value only.
