Description

House and outbuilding, dating back to the 17th century, with later alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The house is built of coursed ironstone rubble, with a Collyweston slate roof, coped gables, and brick chimneys. It has two storeys and two bays. The windows have been replaced with late 19th-century 3-light wooden casements set in pale limestone surrounds with Uppingham stone sills; the ground floor windows have chamfered stone lintels. The central door is within a 17th-century moulded surround featuring a 4-centred arch and two stone steps. Above the door is a small, moulded window with a slightly ogee 4-centred arch. Evidence of quoins is visible to the left of the door. A connected outbuilding to the south appears to be constructed of similar materials but has a shallow-pitched slate roof with a coped gable, and two windows with segmental arches. Further outbuildings to the left are not of particular interest. Inside the house is a deeply chamfered cross beam in the left bay, with traces of another in the right bay. The stair landing features splat balusters and a 17th-century roll-moulded handrail.
