Description
Aldgate Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was extended into an L-plan in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a Collyweston stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and attics, with the original front facing west showcasing a three-window range with 16-pane sash windows. There is a central 20th-century entrance and two gabled dormers. The ends of the building have moulded stone stacks, and timber lintels are present over the openings, with the first-floor lintel being continuous. The east front has been rendered, possibly hiding openings to a rear wing that has since been demolished. The north front dates from the 19th century and has a hipped roof to the east. The west end stack is accompanied by irregularly spaced two-light casement windows beneath red and white cambered stone heads, along with a 20th-century door and one gabled dormer. There is also a lower gabled section to the west.
