Description
West Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1700, with later dates of 1724 and 1883. It is built of coursed rubble stone with quoins and stone dressings, topped by a Collyweston slate roof featuring a moulded stone central ridge and end stacks, along with a red brick projecting stack at the right end. The gables are stone coped. The house is 2½ storeys and has an L-shaped plan, with a gable to the left whose ridge line continues into a rear projecting wing.
The front gable features a 4-light stone mullion window, a similar 3-light window with a hood mould on the first floor, and a 2-light window in the attic. To the right, there is a similar 3-light window on both floors. The left side has additional stone mullion windows, a central 20th-century two-storey extension, and a hipped dormer with a 3/3 sash window, along with a skylight on the roof.
At the right end, there is a one-storey outhouse extension with a curved end wall and the brick projecting stack, which has a stone tablet inscribed 'T.R.' above the date 1724, indicating it was likely added to an earlier house. The rear includes a one-storey lean-to extension and a two-storey extension at the angle, which is dated 1883 and contains the entrance door.
