Description
Sundial Cottage is a house dated 1647 and restored in 1894, located on the north side of Digby Drive in North Luffenham. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins and stone dressings, topped with a Collyweston slate roof featuring three moulded stone ridge stacks and a similar stack at the right end. The right gable is stone-coped, and there is a gabled cross wing on the left side.
The house is 2½ storeys tall. On the left gable, there is a glazed door and a 2-light casement on both floors. Moving from left to right, there is another glazed door and a 2-light casement on both floors, followed by a moulded Tudor arched doorway with a glazed door, a stone tablet above, and a sundial. This is accompanied by a 3-light stone mullion window with a hood mould and a 3-light half-dormer above it. Further along, there is a glazed door, a 2-light stone mullion window with a 4-light window above, and a 2-light dormer. The stone tablet inscribed 'Aedificat 1647: Renovat 1894' is prominently displayed, and on the left end, there are additional casements and another stone tablet inscribed 'Labora et ora 1894'.
