Description
Gamble Cottage is a cottage that originated in the late 16th century and was raised in height in the 18th or 19th century. It is constructed of ironstone, featuring large square blocks on the ground floor and smaller blocks above, topped with a Welsh slate roof and brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and attics, with a two-window range. The central door is framed by a fine moulded architrave. The ground floor includes three-light casement windows and a small fire window to the left, while the first floor has sash windows. There are two gabled dormers with 2-light casement windows. Inside, the left-hand room on the ground floor has a massive beam with moulded stops and a bressumer, which may be reused, along with a similar stop at the inglenook fireplace. Part of the original roof slope remains at the rear, and the central truss of the previous roof is still visible within the first floor rooms.
