Description
The Bath Inn Public House is a public house located on Handel Street in Sneinton, Nottingham, built around 1820. It was refronted around 1920 and underwent alterations and refenestration in the later 20th century. The building is constructed of stucco and features faience pubfronts, with gabled and hipped slate roofs and two rendered gable stacks. The eaves cornice has breaks, and the structure is two storeys high with a four by three window arrangement.
Situated on an acute angled corner site, the building has a rebated rounded corner. The ground floor showcases a faience pubfront in an Egyptian style that wraps around both fronts, complete with a plinth and an ornamented cornice. The windows on this level have wooden mullions and transoms, along with etched glass. At the corner, there is a single window with a blank space above it. The Handel Street front features a central doorway flanked by half-columns and sidelights, set within a recess defined by quarter columns, with three-light windows on each side. The left return, facing Robin Hood Street, has a central doorway flanked by quarter columns and three-light windows. The doors have been renewed and include overlights.
The upper floors on both fronts are marked by giant Egyptian pilasters, with regular fenestration that includes plastic framed glazing bar casements, and smaller windows on the second floor. The interior was refitted in the late 20th century.
