Description

A terrace of 19 houses and a shop, dating from circa 1860 and restored circa 1980. The buildings are constructed of red brick with brick dressings and have slate roofs with renewed brick stacks. They feature renewed sash windows with glazing bars, set within brick round heads and flat arches, and cogged eaves. The terrace is three storeys high, with the houses generally having single windows and side doors. Numbers 1 to 19 present 19 windows and doors, with number 1, at the eastern end, having two windows and an altered 19th-century corner shop front. Campbell Grove is part of a planned development that includes The Promenade and Robin Hood Terrace and was built following the Enclosure Act of 1845. The layout, known locally as a grove, deliberately avoided including a road to save space.
