Description
No. 36 Main Road is an infant school built in 1828, now converted into a house. It was commissioned by Henry Abel Smith. The building is constructed of brick, which is colourwashed, and features ashlar dressings with a slate roof that has coped gables. It is designed in the Tudor Revival style and consists of a single storey plus garrets, with a total of five bays. The windows are renewed wooden framed casements. The central gabled porch has a Tudor arched double door, flanked by two three-light windows on the left and two smaller windows on the right. All openings are adorned with label moulds. The right side of the building has a single window on each floor.
