Description

Thorn House is an early 18th-century house with a stable, located on Main Road, Wilford, Nottingham, that was altered and extended in the mid-19th century. The house is constructed of red brick with painted brick dressings and has a renewed pantile roof with coped gables. It is two storeys plus garrets, with a five-window front. The windows are plain sashes set within painted brick flat arches. The front door is a 19th-century design, consisting of nine panels, a panelled reveal, and an overlight, sheltered by a wooden shell hood supported by 19th-century iron columns and trelliswork. The first floor has five windows directly above the ground floor. Garret windows match those below. To the left of the house is a single-bay stable with a slate roof and coped gable, featuring a plank door and two iron ventilators. Rear wings, one and two storeys in height, have plain tile roofs.
