Description

Price House is a lace warehouse built in 1894, now used as offices. It was designed by John Howitt of Nottingham for A Heymann and has been altered in the late 20th century. The building features red brick construction with an ashlar ground floor and decorative ashlar and terracotta elements. The roof is not visible.

The structure has a plinth, a rusticated ground floor, a ground floor cornice, a dentillated main cornice with a terracotta frieze, and a coped parapet with pedestals. The windows are primarily original plain sashes arranged in pairs, topped with moulded lintels. The building is four storeys tall, plus a basement, and has a symmetrical front with nine window ranges and end bays that are defined by pilasters.

The ground floor includes ashlar doorcases with pilasters and entablatures at each end bay, featuring panelled double doors and overlights. In the center, there are seven pairs of glazing bar windows with transoms. The upper floors have regular fenestration with nine pairs of plain sashes on each floor, while the basement has flat-headed openings. The right return has three bays with similar fenestration to the end bays and three windows in the center bay. The left return was remodeled in the late 20th century.

Inside, there is a stone cantilever dogleg stair with a cast-iron balustrade and a ramped handrail. The doorways are chamfered and segment-arched, featuring replica panelled doors. The ground floor includes round cast-iron columns.
