Description

The war memorial sundial, located 80 meters north-east of the Castle Museum, was erected around 1920 by the 17th Battalion of the Sherwood Foresters. It is made of Portland stone and designed in the Gothic Revival style. The sundial features a traceried octagonal column that stands on a stepped octagonal base, approximately 1 meter high. It includes a brass dial and bronze inscribed plaques, commemorating those who lost their lives in both World Wars.
