Description
A block of four houses built in 1906, designed by Watson Fothergill of Nottingham. The houses are constructed of red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings, and feature a timber-framed second floor with rendered panels. The roofs are gabled and hipped, covered in plain tiles and have coped brick ridge stacks. A plinth and angle buttresses mark the corners of the front elevation, with cogged eaves running along the top. The windows are mainly plain sashes and cross casements, featuring wooden mullions and transoms. The houses are arranged over three storeys, with a four-window range. The front is asymmetrical, with three gabled bays to the left and an engaged corner tower with a pyramidal roof to the right. In the centre, two pointed arched doorways are flanked by canted bay windows, each with four lights and a hipped roof. To the left, a diagonal bay window has four lights and is bisected by an angle buttress. To the right, two segment-arched sashes are present. Above, are four pairs of segment-arched sashes. Above again, three gables each contain a three-light cross casement. The corner tower features two small single sashes, and a canted oriel window with three lights is located on its return. The returns of the building have central doorways; the one to the right has been altered, while the one to the left retains its original half-glazed door and sidelights. Above the doors are square timber-framed garderobes with bottle-end nogging and half-hipped roofs.
