Description

This is a pair of gate piers located 20 meters south-west of the Castle Museum in Nottingham. They were built between 1674 and 1679, likely designed by Samuel Marsh for the first Duke of Newcastle. The piers are made of ashlar and are square and rusticated, standing approximately 3 meters high. They feature cornices and urn finials. These gate piers are part of the original architectural scheme of the Ducal palace.
