Description
Nos. 1 and 2 St Peter's Church Walk are office buildings constructed in 1887 by Evans & Jolly of Nottingham for R Halford. They have been restored in the late 20th century. The buildings are made of red brick with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs with coped brick ridge stacks, showcasing a Renaissance Revival style.
Architectural details include a chamfered plinth, string courses, and coped gables. The windows are primarily original plain sashes with ashlar lintels. The structure consists of three storeys plus attics and has a five by five bay layout. It occupies a corner site with two symmetrical fronts connected by an angled corner bay.
The street front features a recessed central bay with a balustrade, flanked by gabled bays. To the centre and right, there are large openings with late 20th-century glazing. The left bay has a smaller reglazed window and a doorway with an ashlar surround and fanlight. Above this, there is a central canted wooden oriel window flanked by triple sashes, and above that, three double sashes. The attics contain smaller double sashes.
The corner bay on the right has a balustrade and a single window on each floor. The right return has projecting centre and end bays, which are gabled and have balustrades on the intermediate bays. The fenestration is regular, with central doorways flanked by two windows, and above, there are oriel windows in the end bays. The buildings are included for their group value.
