Description

The Former Crown and Cushion Public House, dated 1853, is a three-storey building constructed of stucco. It features three casement windows with moulded surrounds and segmental hood-moulds. The façade is accentuated by giant Corinthianesque pilasters and coupled ground storey windows that have keyblocks, arched heads, and cornices. A moulded sill band runs along the first floor. Notably, a window on the curved angle of the return side is topped with an arched pediment supported by consoles, which includes a scrolled cartouche and the date. The angled doorway is framed with a moulded wood surround and a semi-circular head, featuring a radial fanlight and a four-panelled divided door. This entrance is topped by a wrought iron balcony on elaborate consoles. The building also has dentilled eaves and a slate roof.
