Description
Livesege's Almshouses are a range of almshouses built in 1836, located on the north side of London Road. The charity that established them was founded in 1529. The almshouses are constructed from red brick in a Gothic style and feature stone dressings. They are single-storeyed and have a total of 16 windows, each set in moulded stone surrounds with hood moulds. The building has projecting angled bays at both ends and in the center, where there is a pointed arched doorway. The other doorways are paired and have small projecting porches. The structure is topped with coped parapets and has clustered brick stacks. The forecourt is enclosed by a stone wall, which has later 19th-century iron railings returning at the east end.
