Description
The Carlton Hotel is a mid-19th century building that reflects the Georgian architectural style. It is constructed of red brick and stands three storeys high. The facade features three sash windows, with the outer windows adorned with cornices on consoles, while the central window has a keyblock and a semi-circular head. There is a sill band at the first floor level and two canted bay windows at the ground storey. The central entrance is marked by a doorway with a wooden canopy supported by fluted square columns. The roof includes two hipped dormers, and the eaves are moulded wood. The building is topped with slate roofing. On the right-hand side, there are two one-windowed bays, with the left bay featuring a later gabled dormer. The other windows have keyblocks and channelled lintels. The property is enclosed by wrought iron railings in the forecourt.
