Nos 1 and 2 on Vernon Street are a pair of houses built around 1840. They are constructed of stucco and stand two storeys high, featuring three sash windows with moulded architraves. There is a sill band and pilasters that run through both storeys at each end of the front elevation. The doorways are plain and have rectangular fanlights, with modern doors and projecting Tuscan column porches. The houses have bold lined eaves and a hipped slate roof.
