Description
The Friary Hotel is a fine building from the mid-18th century, with some later 18th century, 19th century, and modern additions that are discreetly integrated. It stands three storeys tall and features seven sash windows, with the central window having elaborate frames. The building has a high stone plinth and pilasters at the corners of the elevation, along with a moulded eaves cornice that breaks forward over the centre and the pilasters. There is a brick parapet and a modern facsimile porch with a covered entry. Inside, the hotel boasts well-preserved panelled rooms and plaster ornamentation from the mid to late 18th century, including a late 18th century dining room that features good ornamentation and a tactful modern treatment.
