Description
The rectangular range of farm buildings at Netherton Hall Farm dates from around 1775 and is constructed of coursed dressed stone with raised ashlar quoins and stone slate roofs. The buildings are arranged around a central courtyard in a symmetrical seven-bay front. The center bay projects slightly and features a pediment, although the moulded copings on the gable are mostly missing. There is a central segmental-arched cart entry with quoined edges, and single-light windows in raised surrounds, some of which have glazing bars. There are later openings in the ground floor bays one and five, and a low addition to the right that is not of special interest. A plain plaque is located on the first floor, and there is a band between the floors along with a moulded eaves cornice.
The left and right returns each have five bays and are similarly designed but lack the central break and pediment. The left return features several altered ground-floor openings and a large later opening at the left end. The rear of the building is simpler, with a central cart entry and a single high-level light at each end, the one on the right having been altered to serve as a doorway. The courtyard includes opposed cart entrances and several reused 17th-century doorways in the three-bay return walls. Later cast-iron columns support an iron and glass roof over the courtyard, and the buildings are characterized by large fishbone roof trusses.
