Description
The Church of St Andrew is a church built in 1881 by J. D. Sedding, located on Church Lane in Netherton. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble with ashlar quoins, bands, and dressings, topped with a tiled roof. The church features a nave and chancel combined, with an organ chamber added to the south. The windows are small and alternate, consisting of slender and square-headed designs with relieving arches above, as well as slender lancets.
On the south side, the organ chamber is integrated with an open porch that has a hipped, sprocketed roof. At the west end, there is a projection for the baptistry that is supported by two buttresses, which also support a bellcote. Between the buttresses, there is a small light, and there are slit windows on each side. The east end features a raised ashlar panel that rises as two buttresses, with a square-headed window set in an arched surround, flanked by slit windows and one in the apex.
Inside, the church has a plain interior with a nave consisting of three large bays, supported by four collared trusses. The tie-beams of these trusses are arch-braced to wall posts, which are also arch-braced to wall plates in the form of an arcade. The chancel has a waggon roof with two bays. A font is located in an arched recess at the west end.
